Ridearcycling system
Cycling is an increasingly popular mode of transportation and exercise, but it presents several challenges for cyclists, including safety concerns, lack of infrastructure, and difficulty in finding suitable routes and cycling partners. The RideAR project aims to address these challenges by developing a mobile application and Augmented Reality smart cycling goggles that can enhance the safety, navigation, and social connectivity of cycling.

Role: UX research design / UI / Branding
Method: Lean UX

Cycling is a popular mode of transportation, exercise, and recreation worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 3.2 billion people around the world cycle for transportation or leisure, making it one of the most popular physical activities globally.
Therefore, there is a growing need for innovative solutions to improve the safety and accessibility of cycling.
The Aim
To improve and enhance the cycling experience for adults by developing a mobile application and Augmented Reality smart cycling goggles that can improve safety, navigation, and social connectivity.

The Research
To gain further insight into the needs and preferences of potential users of the RideAR application and smart cycling goggles, primary research was conducted. This research involved a 20+ question survey that was filled out by 30 participants.
Several of the participants who completed the survey expressed interest in participating in user interviews to discuss the topic in more detail. For the user interviews, participants were chosen based on age range, gender, location, and cycling experience. The survey and subsequent interviews were invaluable in providing critical insights into the needs and preferences of potential users.
A secondary technological research was done to learn more about the durability and the range of features that can be useful in the product.

UX Analysis
In this project, affinity diagramming was used to analyse data collected from user interviews. The thematic analysis showed that users shared common themes, which could be classified into motivations, challenges, ride information, needs, concerns, safety, and competitions.

Branding and Ideation
The name RideAR perfectly captures the main activity of the product, which is cycling, as well as its main feature, which is augmented reality. The name also gives the feel of the radar and vision, which accurately reflects the product's capabilities.

After conducting ideation activities, such as: How Might We, Crazy 8, Rapid Ideas, The Worst Idea, it was possible to formulate the main features of the product as follows:
• Augmented Reality (AR) • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Navigation • The community
• Voice Command

UI Design
The first part of the UI design was for the AR cycling goggles, and the other part of the UI design was for the mobile application.
The AR UI design had to have the main elements that were confirmed throughout the research, such as Navigation, Speed, Distance .. etc.

Accessibility: Some accessibility tests were made to make sure the whole UI design is accessible, such as font size, font colours, contrasts ... etc.
